Prayer and Reflection

Words and Scripture by Rev Michael Bishop.

There is a time for all things.  A time to live and a time to die,, there is a cycle to life.  I cannot understand or explain why this loss has happened, but we do know that life is short, no matter our age (Len was 78) and we are blessed with each day.

I ask you to remember Len’s life and rejoice in the blessing he brought to your lives.  Len had a hope in eternity, a hope that he would be reunited with loved ones who are gone ahead.  We too can have the hope to see him again.

Scriptures teach us very clearly that there  is life after our time on earth.  When our bodies cease to function our spirits live on.  The Bible tells us there is a heaven, a place of no more suffering and pain, a place where there are no more tears.

Len will be missed greatly.  He is now free of any pain and discomfort.

The 23rd Psalm

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He makes me to lie down in green pastures: he leads me beside the still waters.

He restores my soul:  he leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil:  for You are with me; Your rod and staff they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies:  You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:  and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Len’s faith was his own.  It is important that we remember that our faith is not measured by religious outward signs but rather our hearts.  That is what God sees.

God Saw You Getting Tired

God saw you getting tired

And a cure was not to be,

So he put his arms around you

And whispered, “Come with me.”

With tearful eyes we watched you,

And I saw you pass away.

Although we loved you dearly,

We could not make you stay.

A golden heart stopped beating,

Hard working hands at rest.

God broke our hearts to prove to us

He only takes the best.

We realized Len has touched many lives in his life.  We can thank God for who he was and the gift that he was to each of you.  Len lives on in your thoughts and memories.

Len, you were someone special

Who can never be replaced

Your memories in our daily lives

Can never be erased

Time cannot steal the memories

We carry in our hearts

Or take away the happy years

Of which you were a part

Those we love don’t go away

They walk beside us everyday

Unseen, unheard, but always near

Still loved, still missed, still always near.
